Homeless Management Information System |
HMIS implementation presents communities with an opportunity to re-examine how homeless services are provided in their community, and to make informed decisions, and develop appropriate action steps. The implementation of an HMIS will allow community stakeholders to build new alliances, to strengthen services, meet consumer needs in a more streamlined manner, and obtain information to guide future planning.
The HMIS in West Tennessee including Stewart, Houston, and Humphreys counties, is co-administered by Tennessee Homeless Solutions and the Jackson Housing Authority. The operating system is ServicePoint by Bowmans Systems. The use of the HMIS is required in the State of Tennessee by all agencies reporting on McKinney-Vento funds including the Emergency Shelter Grant.
In addition to the agencies being required to submit information through the HMIS system, the computer program offers a large array of possibilities to any agency. It allows the user to track and monitor finances, populations served, intakes, discharges, and trend analysis. |
